Jeffrey Kaufman
Content. Brand. Story. Fandom.
I’ve spent three decades at the forefront of digital entertainment, making content, launching brands, building new media businesses, and engaging with fans. This site exists to help me share that expertise with people who want to create meaningful fan connections.
I’m available to help you figure out how to create compelling content and tell impactful stories across multiple platforms.
Please see my FAQ for rates and to inquire about consultations, projects, public speaking, seminars, and/or teaching opportunities.
About Me
I led brand strategy for MTV, turning data into insights to help figure out how to connect to fans, how to innovate, how to produce awesome TV, and how to be MTV in new and emerging spaces.
I co-built a start-up called >NBBC, which then evolved into the brand that’s now known as Hulu.
I helped build a new media model at Howcast, where I created thousands of pieces of digital-first content that can teach you how to do pretty much anything.
I launched and led some of the biggest channels on YouTube, including Smosh (#1 most subscribed channel), Chopra Well with Deepak Chopra (65+ MM views), and Smosh Games (fastest-growing channel in YouTube’s history).
I ran digital for USA Network at NBC. Among other things, I was the architect of wildly innovative digital storytelling activations for the groundbreaking drama Mr. Robot. Some of them won Emmys.
I led editorial strategy for DC Comics, driving our second and third most successful years in history. As a lifelong comic book nerd, that was pretty cool.
I now launch IP, develop content, produce shows, build brands, and help create new media businesses. (Maybe with you! See my FAQ section).

Do you do consulting work? | Can you just look at my [INSERT PROJECT] real quick?
Yes. My starting rate is $200, which gets you a one-hour video conference call with me to discuss any topic around entertainment, production, content, or brand, including reviewing pitches, proposals, brand strategy, fan engagement, and more. In addition, this fee includes me reading up to 50 pages of material prior to the call. | If it’s part of a consultation, then absolutely. If it’s just for free advice, I’m sorry I can’t do that at this time. But happy to spend an hour with you at the $200 rate, and happy to discuss there what a larger engagement might look like. *REMINDER please don’t send any unsolicited material without a signed release form (provided upon request). |

I’m here to give you the opportunity to access and benefit from that knowledge and expertise. | I’m happy to provide insight and guidance in any of the following areas:
|
Can you produce my project/script/etc.? | Do you have an idea I can make into a movie, show, comic?
Quite possibly. I have a lot of media resources I can bring to bear, depending on the project. Let’s start with the consultation and discuss your questions and what you might need, and we can go from there. | Yes. You want my media development company, J-Squared Worldwide. We’ve sold several projects and have several more in development that might be right for you. Just indicate that’s the topic when you reach out and I’ll get right back to you with next steps. |
